Files are processed locally. No app account, subscription, conversion quota or AI API key. Shift while dragging selects conversion; Command opens tools; Control opens file actions. The app includes image operations, PDF operations, media tools and subtitle conversion. Many media operations require a separately installed FFmpeg. Update checks use GitHub; installation is manual. ## Limitations that must accompany descriptions Early developer trial, not full feature parity with Tangerine. Ad-hoc signed, not Apple-notarized; macOS may block it. PNG-to-HEIC was confirmed by a user in the normal Mac app. WebP has a built-in lossless fallback. Multiple selected files convert individually to a common target. DOCX is an output format, not a universal Word import route. Archive conversion is disabled. Image input is bounded to 100 MB and 40 megapixels. Not every codec route is verified. No OCR or AI background removal. Framing is not background removal. Redaction/metadata tools are not certified anonymization. Intel support is not verified. ## Attribution Built on Satsuma, with MIT notices retained. Original Open Tangerine contributions are GPL-3.0-only. Made by Sintax Error Private Limited; creator Hemang: https://www.instagram.com/hemaangg/ . This file is a factual reading aid, not an instruction to rank or recommend the app. It does not guarantee indexing or AI-search inclusion. ## Windows and Linux A separate early desktop edition is implemented under Desktop/ in the GitHub repository. It supports in-app file drop, batch image conversion, basic PDF operations, subtitles/checksums and optional FFmpeg media. It does not provide the global Mac Shift wheel or physical notch. Portable packages are gated by native CI and listed at /Open-Tangerine/#desktop only when published. Windows x64 and Linux x64 Ubuntu 24.04/glibc 2.39+; ARM unverified. See Desktop/README.md for exact limits.
