OPEN TANGERINE / Terms & conditions

Terms & conditions

Last updated: 20 October 2026

These terms describe the Open Tangerine website and developer trial provided by Sintax Error Private Limited. Open Tangerine is an independent project and is not affiliated with Tangerine or Apple.

Open-source rights come first

The software is distributed under GNU GPL version 3 only. Your rights to use, study, modify and distribute it are governed by that license. These website terms do not add restrictions to or override those rights. Third-party components retain their applicable licenses and notices; see third-party notices.

Developer trial, not a guarantee

The current app is an early developer trial. Formats and tools may fail, and not every conversion route has been verified. Keep backups and check converted output before relying on it. Some media tools require separately installed FFmpeg. Resource limits and unsupported features are described on the download page and in the repository.

Installation and updates

Mac trial packages are ad-hoc signed, not Apple-notarized. The Windows early trial is unsigned. Linux builds target the explicitly listed distributions/runtime requirements. Platform feature sets differ; see the download page and Desktop guide. macOS may refuse to open them. Downloading from this website does not confer Apple approval or a guarantee of safety. Follow Apple’s official security guidance and do not disable system-wide protection. Updates are downloaded and installed manually; the app does not silently replace itself.

Your content

You retain rights to your files. Use the software only with content you have the right to process. You are responsible for checking exports, backups and any information you share publicly. Metadata tools and visible redaction are not a guarantee of anonymity or secure removal of sensitive content.

No warranty

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the software is provided without warranty as set out in sections 15 and 16 of GPLv3. Nothing on this page removes rights or protections that cannot legally be excluded. Website and download availability may change; no service-level commitment is offered.

Ownership and contributions

Sintax Error Private Limited retains the rights it owns in its original work. Contributors and upstream authors retain their copyrights unless separately agreed otherwise. The software license does not grant trademark rights or imply endorsement. Contributions follow the repository’s contribution policy.

Questions

For project questions, use GitHub issues. For private matters, contact sintaxerror.pvt.ltd@gmail.com. We may update this page; changes do not revoke rights already granted under the software license.
